More details: The AV-8B Harrier is a second-generation vertical/short takeoff and landing or V/STOL ground-attack aircraft of the late 20th century. It is primarily used for light attack or multi-role tasks, typically operated from small aircraft carriers and large amphibious assault ships.
Between the 1990 and 1991, the USMC deployed around 60 AV-8B in the Arabian region, very close the Kuwait border. Some of them were embarked on the amphibious ship class-Tarawa.
